The idea of small pieces of art came from living on the Island of Key west.             Space is a premium here, so form followed     Function in size.    The idea of art that made you feel good was the inspiration!

“He who works with his hands is a laborer. He who works with his hands and his head is a craftsman. He who works with his hands and his head and his heart is an artist.”
 – St Francis of Assisi

“Growing up in the Florida keys it’s hard not to be inspired by nature.”
- Rennie Disrud Joris

“ I aspire to inspire before I expire”- Tom Joris

“My work is definitely soulful, sometimes mystical or cryptic ...but always me. I am a mother, daughter, sister, lover and Someone’s friend..i am strong, a caregiver, a painter, designer, teacher and a believer that the world can change for the greater good. I hope you can see these colors in my work.”
-Carrie Disrud

In 1992 in Key West she & her husband Thomas opened Kalypso Gallery. A fun spirited gallery with paintings, sculptures, & artwear. Kalypso showed the collaborative work of Carrie/Jean Disrud and many other artist from Canada to key west. In 2011, their middle son found himself engulfed in art, and working along side of them; enough that he started what is their Etsy site today, continuing to spread the family name.
